T-RIFF Cinemasports

TRIFF acquired Lake Tahoe Public TV, Channel 14, K14AJ in mid 2003. One of our goals is to train all community members interested in making their own television programming. We will aid people in upgrading skills and creating new careers in the Multimedia Arts. Now, anybody can learn how to make short films, aid organizations in capturing their event to produce a promotional video or Public Service Announcement. Young adults will have an opportunity to utilize equipment, learn to write short films or produce their on TV Show.

TRIFF instructors will teach individual “Hands on Training” classes, beginning level, to small community groups (8-12 people) at low rates, from $35 to $120.00 per person. All programs produced through TRIFF classes or with station equipment in or out of the studio will be owned by TRIFF/LTPTV and utilized for programming on Channel 14.

Beginner Paid Classes

Hands on Training:

  • Camera Techniques - Concentrates on correct camera controls, techniques, and shot composition.
  • Non-Linear Editing - Basic use of PhotoShop, Adobe Premier Pro for digital editing.
  • TV Production- Including basic skills needed to produce TV programs, documentaries, promotional videos or a public service announcement, etc.

Advanced Training

  • Sitcoms, Dramas, Mini Movies
  • Taught by Hollywood Professionals

Extensive courses will be added at a later date: Mini Movie Production, Documentary and Independent film Production, Sitcom and Drama Production and development.

Upon completion of appropriate classes, students may utilize the equipment and produce TV programming for free (nonprofit) or low cost. Programming produced with station equipment will belong to TRIFF/LTPTV and will be broadcast on Channel 14.

Social Benefits

  • LTPTV studio/station will provide a vehicle for people to speak out on important issues and can be used to archive community endeavors and growth.
  • It will create a forum for non-profit and civic groups to get their message out, to announce special events and to ask for their needs
  • Create opportunities for people to upgrade their skills and create new careers.
  • Invigorate youth to use their creativity for more productive endeavors that will reduce gang related incidents in our community and stimulate ideas for careers.
